條頓堡森林之役，是一個日耳曼人和羅馬人之間的重要戰爭。
羅馬佔領了日耳曼地區後，派瓦魯斯(Publius Quinctilius Varus)擔任總督，統治日耳曼區。但是羅馬的統治方式，跟日耳曼很不一樣，引起日耳曼人的反抗。當時反抗羅馬的人叫阿米尼斯(Arminius)，他是羅馬公民，也是羅馬輔助部隊的騎士，因此儘管有人警告，瓦魯斯仍舊非常信任他。
西元九年，羅馬軍準備要到萊茵河旁的基地過冬，瓦魯斯聽信阿米尼斯的話，認為森林地帶安全，在森林裡紮營。結果阿米尼斯在森林埋伏兵隊攻擊，羅馬戰敗，瓦魯斯自殺身亡。羅馬也因此不能把疆界擴展到易北河地區。
